THE WEEKLY EDIT - Week 18
THE WEEKLY EDIT · April 27th // This week’s newsletter is a sunny little espresso of the city — short, punchy, and full of what’s coming up.
It’s spring time!!!
I know we were already technically in spring, but honestly… when it’s -2°C, it doesn’t feel like it.
Now the sun is finally out — and so are the Danes.
And so am I, to be honest.
Every minute of sunshine should be spent outside, soaking it in like a little sponge.
The mood shifts, the plates get more colorful.
Give me green asparagus, radiant pink rhubarb — and the sound of ice in my drink, whether it’s an iced latte or a boozy cocktail.
Bisous
Alice
I’ve opened a community chat here in Substack - So If you’ve discovered a place I should know about, if you’re looking for something very specific, or if you have ideas for future editions, I’d genuinely love to hear from you there and making this a real exchange rather than just a weekly drop in your inbox.
The weekly list for thoses really hungries
Birthday Season 🎂
A lot of birthdays recently…
After Goose, Aben (Nordhavn) last weeks —
La Trinacria is also celebrating its 5th birthday with backyard grilling, limoncello, and free tiramisu:
And Esso is turning one — serving cheesecake and bubbles (best combo in my opinion):
La Banchina Turns 10
But the birthday I’m most excited about: La Banchina — 10 years.
From May 7th to 16th, they’re hosting 10 days of events and celebrations.
Better book quickly.
Tiramisu Queen in Town
Copenhagen has a tiramisu queen (that I’ve finally tried — and I’m sorry if you haven’t yet).
She might be partnering with a matcha space for a matcha tiramisu (makes sense)… and more collabs could pop up soon.
Including a pop-up at Flan:
📅 May 7
🍽 3 flavors to try
Basque Cheesecake King?
But Copenhagen might also have its Basque cheesecake king…
Tasting and review coming soon.
French Toast Madness
Give me one French toast, I’ll be happy.
Give me two, I’ll be thrilled.
Give me three, I’ll be euphoric.
She Serve will make 3 styles of French toast:
📅 May 2
📍 Nabo Nørrebro
MobilSauna Launch Party
MobilSauna is throwing a launch party to celebrate its full rebranding.
📅 May 2
🕙 From 11:00
☕ Free drinks, coffee, snacks, goodie bags, music — and free sauna
Pizza on a Bagel?!
Pizza on a bagel.
Either the idea of the century… or slightly disappointing.
But coming from Bagel Belly x Diamond Slice — I’m betting on the first.
Flavors:
Hot honey & pepperoni
Classic cheese with basil
Tricolor: vodka sauce, pesto, marinara, mozzarella
Impact Bar
This Friday, Sydhavn will be the place to be.
Well — I’ll be there for sure.
Expect inspiring talks from people shaping life in Copenhagen, food & drinks from great spots, music, and good vibes by the water.
The programming is curated with Nus Nus agency (Distortion, Karrusel, Kaleido) — so you know it’s going to be good.
📅 This Friday
📍 Sydhavn
🕒 From 15:00 until late
And this is just a sneak peek of what’s coming in September for the full Impact Festival.
(I’ll be an ambassador — so stay tuned, I might have something for you 👀)
City Crumbs
Rhubarb Obsession Season
Rhubarb season doesn’t last long, so better enjoy it.
I’m currently obsessed with:
The rhubarb puff pastry at Harlo
The rhubarb spandauer at Andersen & Maillard
The sumac and rhubarb spandauer with a lemon financier crumble at Kani
The vanilla soft serve with rhubarb compote at Juma
And also this beauty:
Cardamom brioche, laminated with browned butter and filled with almond remonce and rhubarb compote. Topped with poached rhubarb.
Autopoul is Back
Thursday was the reopening of Autopoul — and if you’ve never been, now is the time.
On My Radar
Never been, but planning to:
Ameta Bakery — they have a cornetto filled with mascarpone cream that looks pretty naughty.
Grønt Marked Returns
Grønt Marked is back — and they even have a new location in Frederiksberg.
The first edition of the warm season will be on May 3rd in Gammelholm.
Granola Edit — Part 2
If you liked my granola edit of the city, this one is for you.
I got a lot of new recommendations from people — including a very creative one from Etcetera : a whipped yogurt similar to the one at Cadence, but with Earl Grey and sesame notes.
Also on my new list : Lagonico, Riviera & The Union Kitchen
Beyond Copenhagen — New Issue
The new edition of Beyond Copenhagen should arrive very soon in the best coffee spots in the city.
You can hunt down a copy at Coffee Collective or Hart Bakery, for example.
I had the chance to flip through one, and if you like this newsletter, there’s a 100% chance you’ll like the content — curated and beautifully crafted by people who genuinely love the city.
Chocolate Deep Dive — Bean to Bite
If you like chocolate, this is a place you need to visit.
Bean to Bite invited me to discover their chocolate cellar — unique references you won’t find anywhere else in the Nordics.
Intense, high-quality bean-to-bar chocolate, carefully curated by the owner.
If you try one, you’ll never go back to industrial chocolate.
I tried one from Chocolate Naive — incredibly intense and round. Perfection.
Konkylie Rebrand
They were Bodega Konkylie — now they are Konkylie Nørrebro.
Faerm x The Artisan
Faerm always does the best collabs.
Next one: with The Artisan… and sweet potato…?!
Cadence → Sunday CPH
Say goodbye to Cadence and hello to Sunday CPH.
New brand DNA, new menu, new location — same obsession with elevating brunch staples.
📍 Nørregade 45
Sunday Roast Debate
If I can guarantee how good the Sunday roast at Bar Sportif is,
I can’t say the same for Bottega Estadio (yet)… but it looks like a pretty good deal — especially if you like Bloody Marys.
